Ayako Oguri – A Journey Through Cultures and Spiritual Practices
About Ayako Oguri
Ayako was in a science department in a University in Tokyo and thought of studying astronomy but decided to become a painter so instead, joined in a small private atelier workspace and went to Hokkaido ( northern island in Japan ) for 7 weeks.
She decided to quit that university and went abroad to USA and started to study art in Savannah College of Art and Design. After some time Ayako met a Native American sculptor who was talking about the Spirit already existing in all things . .
and how to bring that spirit out.
She was very touched by his words and it resonated so much, she could bring the existence of spirits into her artwork and intended to transmit some message from the spirits.

“The healer you have been looking for is your own courage to know and love yourself completely.
New Mexico and a turning point
Ayako was so inspired that she decided to transfer from the SCAD to University of New Mexico , to be closer to the native people and also to try lithographic printing, but didn’t get on with working with chemicals.
In New mexico she had a car accident; after the accident her university started again and when she first stepped on the floor again, she was so moved by the energy echoing back from the Mother Earth, and she thought, “Wow, if I was killed by that car accident I would never have felt the earth so vividly!”
This car accident definitely changed her life and she started to live “100% for the moment” because you never know what happens one second to the next…
We have a saying in Japanese “Ichigo Ichie”, means , Once in a lifetime encounter.
That is how she feels and how Ayako meets people all over the world, feeling gratitude of each encounter as a miracle moment.
Flamenco and moving to spain
After a car accident, Ayako found herself in a flamenco dance class, practicing the intricate footwork with heels. This led her to Spain, where she sought to immerse herself in the Gypsy culture, learning flamenco singing from a Gypsy guitarist and singer.
Oriental Medicine
However, She soon realized that she was only imitating their culture, which left her feeling inauthentic. It was during this time thatshe received an inner calling to pursue oriental medicine. Surprisingly, in a small town in southern Spain, Ayako met both Spanish and English Shiatsu teachers, along with a Kung Fu, Tai Chi and Chinese massage master from China.
Mexico and my Journey into Energy Healing
Learning oriental medicine from Westerners helped her understand it more theoretically. Later, Ayako moved to Mexico, which marked a major turning point in her life. There, she learned to honor plant spirits, the guardians of the four directions, and to deeply respect Mother Earth. This is where her journey into energy healing and spiritual aromatherapy began.
Teaching Tai Chi
Ayako began teaching Tai Chi at a macrobiotic restaurant in Mexico, practicing consistently until she was eight months pregnant. Thanks to these teachings, her son was born in just 10 minutes!
Returning to Japan
After becoming a single mother, Ayako returned to Japan with her baby, where she deepened her practice of Tai Chi, Qi Gong and Tao Shiatsu, studying under Ryoku Endo. She also earned her national license as a Shiatsu practitioner.
